We are a music society for all musicians and singers regardless of experience. We meet up once a week for a jam session, usually on Tuesdays at 7pm, at the Djanogly Recital Hall. We also organise Open Mics in the city for our members to play, which are great for those that want to publisise thier music. They also offer a chance to those, like me, who have not played publically but have always wanted to.
These are informal sessions where we split off into groups and just relax and play music with each other. The sessions are great for any muscian or songwriter who wants to practise, share and develop songs! Or you can just chat with other like-minded people while playing the odd song - It's whatever you want it to be!
If you want to learn covers, then you can practise by yourself or with others in the practise rooms. If another member knows a song you like, ask them to teach you! No sweat.
If you are a songwriter, other members are there to help perfect your song. We can contribute anything, whether it be constructive critism and advice, to helping you write lyrics or adding our own instruments to your piece. We are also toying with recording software so that we can record songs and add whatever instruments we like!
If you just like playing music and want to play with other muscians, then you can. A lot of people aren't used to playing with other muscians, but its a great feeling and you can get awesomely creative!
We also organise Open Mic nights in the city, and perform individually or with each other. These nights are great to publicise your music, gain experience playing in front of others or just to socialise. So if the idea of the jam sessions don't interest you, but you want to perform in the city, then join and come to one of our open mic nights.
In the past we have booked a studio for our members to record thier own songs in a professional environment. Recently though we have gotten some decent home recording equipemnt which enables us to record and develop songs all year round! This will hopefully lead to a society CD at the end of the year, though whether this is done by us or at the studio we don't know yet.
