Welcome to University of Nottingham Japan Society! 
  • The society aims to contribute to the enjoyment of Japanese culture.
  • As well as provide a network between Japanese students in Nottingham and those with a positive interest in Japan.
  • The Japan society is one of the most culturally diverse within the SU. Whether you are a native of Japan, or couldn't even find it on a map, you are welcome to join!

  The planned events for the 2011/12 academic year

  • The start of year BBQ! A wonderful opportunity for all the new members to meet and greet. 
  • Japan Societies past time tradition! Coco Tang, Halloween club night. Polish up and get your fancy dress on for a great night out. 
  • Traditional Japanese cuisine! Experience the taste of Japanese food, at one of Nottingham's finest restaurants, Higoi. 
  • Sushi making lessons! Guided by native Japanese, that will teach you the art of makizushi.

  • Japan Society Football Team! Support or join our football team, which is open to all. The team has a strong presence among the university tournaments.

  • Sakura Matsuri/Cherry Blossom Picnic! Stand with Japan and Celebrate their tradition. 
  • Film Night! lets share a little piece of culture and appreciate some Japanese art. 
  • Japan Society Valentines Club Night! come along and enjoy the festivities. It gives you all a chance to hit the cobble streets of Nottingham again, only this time more scantily dressed. 


  • Karaoke Nights! Take a shot at singing along, in our popular ktv nights.
  • Second Semester trip (TBC)! Taking a group of those willing to a cultural event. 

and many more events throughout the year!

The society is also closely linked to the other international societies which enables us to share the diversity of our cultures.
