Welcome to English Soc!
We are a bunch of students, from First Year Reps to third year Social Secretaries, that are all going through life as an English Studies undergraduate. We are a truly diverse group who join together to help all our fellow students get the most out of their time at the University of Nottingham.

As we are English students too, we understand the importance and difficulty in trying to mix with people on our course. Limited contact hours and various other commitments all make it hard to get to know your fellow English students, but you will soon come to realise how important, and rewarding, course friends are!
This is where we come in. As your society, we organise a large variety of events that you want to participate in. We love any excuse for more parties, so frequently get together to go on bar crawls, balls, sporting events and theatre trips – particularly important for the Second year Analysing Performance Module. We are also working to broaden our charity links, in particular planning some work in conjunction with the Samworth Academy in Bilborough to help their students develop their communication skills.
What's more, having won the sponsorship of Cucamara, we can maximise and vary the events we can hold, ensuring that we provide you with the most fun, worthwhile experiences and opportunities possible!
But we are always open to ideas, so if you have any suggestions of events you would like us to organise, so just let us know!
We are also aware of how overwhelming life as a student can be, so we are here to help you with any queries you have - be it about your course, who to contact and general University life. Our new ‘buddy’ system, using existing students as guides and support to newcomers, is going a long way to helping this. Nevertheless, we are aware that more can always be done and are keen to offer you all the support and fun you need!
