Conservation Society
ConSoc

If you enjoy nature and wish to help preserve it, or if you are simply looking for a fun and social outdoors activity, Consoc is for you!
Consoc is a student-run group that works together with local and national organisations in order to conserve our local green spaces. We visit Sites of Special Scientific Interest, nature reserves, parks and woodland. We adopt a hands-on approach for the betterment of the local environment and provide our members with an opportunity to gain valuable volunteer experience. We organise one-off trips to new sites as well as frequently revisiting ongoing projects - seeing the difference our work is making is very rewarding.
We do conservation work every Wednesday at various sites around Nottingham. We try to vary what task we do each week to give members a good variety. For example, tasks that have been done in the past include making footpaths, coppicing and planting. For anyone who wishes to join us for a session, we meet at 1:15pm at the wall by the outside entrance to Mooch/The Den. Look out for people in boots/wellies!
To celebrate our success we host fortnightly socials, occasional weekend events such as bird walks and nature food trails, and get dolled up for Societies Ball. There’s also our annual trip to the Peak District in the Easter holidays when we spend a week working in the hills with the Park Rangers!
