Dear ASoc members,
Sadly your 2011-2012 committee’s time is shortly coming to an end D: but on the bright side we are looking for a brand new fun, creative and crazy committee. ASoc has been around for almost 17 years, and over this time we have acquired many sponsors
and contacts such as Alea Casino, Revolutions Cornerhouse, Cumin Restaurant, Blackwells (Portland Building) and many more!
Next year’s committee will potentially have the UNIQUE privilege of working with the UK Asian Music Awards (AMA) and may be able to attend the awards in December 2012 at Wembley Arena. Artists who have attended and performed at the AMA include Jay Sean, The Wanted, Tim Westwood, Chipmunk, Rishi Rich, Raghav, and many more! This is currently in the pipeline, more details to be announced later!
In order to apply & vote you must be a member of ASoc on the SU website. Membership is £2 online! All non-member votes will be disqualified.

You can apply for a maximum of ONE position. Each position has 1 role unless stated. Email asoc.nottingham@live.co.uk by Tuesday 27th March 2012 if you would like to apply. The AGM will take place in the first week of May after Easter where you will need to give a short speech.

President: The Top Job, all the power you can imagine! You’ll be in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly in the society and be on hand to deal with any situations that may arise. You’ll attend Societies Council at least once a term, as well as attend President's meetings with the SU. You will also work closely with the events coordinators in Ziya & Kangna.
Vice President: Right hand man of the president, handling different tasks and being responsible for most of the internal issues that arise. You will also work closely with the events coordinators in Ziya & Kangna.
Treasurer: Your role will be to ensure that ASoc remains in the green, and that all the budgets add up. You’ll also be responsible for applying for grant money and helping with obtaining sponsorship money. (NOTE: MUST NOT BE A FINAL YEAR STUDENT)
General Secretary:Your role will involve all ASoc admin. Primarily your role will be to ensure ASoc progresses from Bronze to Silver and ultimately Gold on the SU Stars award scheme. This effectively takes the entire year to achieve and involves a highly organised and efficient person.
Events ( 2 PEOPLE ): You will be responsible of organising ASoc’s two flagship events:
1) Ziya - The Cultural Ball in Semester 1
2) Kangna - The multi award winning Cultural Show, in Semester 2.
You will form the executive committee joint with Hindu Society.You are of course encouraged to create new and exciting events of your own. This year our new event is ASoc Annual Celebration, which we hope you can make even bigger when the society turns 18 years old on March 20th 2013!
Social Sec- You will also be responsible of organizing regular socials (barcrawls, laser quest, campus barcrawls etc).
Marketing & Promotions Secretary: Your role is to promote ASoc and arrange the making of posters and flyers for all ASoc events. You will need to be familiar with Photoshop as a minimum. We will also be asking you to create a small sample design e.g. a logo or a design for a membership card or a small flyer (details will be revealed after nominations close on Tuesday 27th March 2012).
Sponsorship Secretary: You'll be looking to attract and be in regular contact with big companies and sponsors as well as maintaining contact with our current sponsors. This will involve traveling to town therefore (not a requirement) a car would be ideal.
