This modern, self catering accommodation is located near the Jubilee Campus, perfect if this is where you have lectures, a mere free bus ride away from University Park if not. Raleigh Park is divided into flats of four or six people with a shared kitchen, bathroom and living space in each. Perfect for those who like to cook for themselves, Raleigh Park offers an intimate hall experience with an excellent and diverse social scene. With over 1,000 students Raleigh is one of the biggest accommodations at University and offers an excellent hall experience!
Raleigh JCR Committee
The Current JCR Committee is in post until 31st October.
President: Amy Glover
The President is here to lead the JCR committee, liaise with the Hall Warden and Management, the Students’ Union and other stakeholders and represents your hall at the monthly Students’ Union Council.
Vice-President: Zehra Odunayo (Zoo)
Responsible for the JCR’s website, publicity and communications, co-ordinates the JCR committee elections and undertakes all Presidential duties in the absence of the President.
Treasurer: Leslie Choi
Prepares and manages the JCR budget, income and expenditure throughout the year and keeps the committee, residents, Students’ Union and University updated about the accounts.
Social Secretary: Ellie Rogers and Matthew Brown
Plan and run activities and events in your hall, organises publicity and ticket selling for events and liaise with Karni and Week One Reps.
Welfare Reps: Phil Fieldhouse and Abby Gosling
Look after the welfare needs of the residents in your hall, represents your Hall’s welfare concerns to Hall Management and the Students’ Union runs welfare campaigns and is a member of the Students’ Union Welfare Rep Network.
Environmental Officer: Greer Diamond
Liaise with the Students’ Union Environmental and Social Justice Rep to raise awareness and campaign about environmental issues in your hall, represent your Hall’s environmental issues to Hall management and the Students’ Union.
International Rep: Eva Whittaker
Provides support for International Students living in Raleigh by organising events, liaising with the Students’ Union International Officer about activities and promoting these.
Postgraduate Rep: Omayma Bendahmane
Provides support for Postgraduate Students living in Raleigh by organising events, liaising with the Students’ Union International Officer about activities and promoting these.
Sports Coordinator: Tom Simm
Provides support for Raleigh Park teams including football, netball, hockey and offers assistance in entering teams into competitions, providing kits and taking on any ideas for other teams that show an increased interest.
News and Events
During the 2011/12 Academic year, Raleigh JCR ran many successful events including movie nights, a break to Amsterdam, after formal socials, trips to Thorpe Park and Alton Towers and Summer and Winter Balls. Sports
Raleigh takes part in the Intra-Mural Sports (IMS) League, competing against other Halls and Societies. Teams include: Football,Hockey and Netball. Speak to Paul Dew, the Sports Director or Toby Whittal-Williams the JCR President, to find out more about getting involved in these teams or other sports which the IMS League offers.
