Broadgate

Welcome to Broadgate Park! Housing over 2,200 self- catering students, Broadgate is one of the biggest halls at Nottingham, and one of the largest student villages in Europe. Situated just outside the west entrance to the University, Broadgate allows easy access to the main campus. It boasts excellent facilities and there's a vibrant social scene with a lively community of both undergraduate and postgraduate students (based in separate blocks).

Broadgate JCR Committee

The Current JCR Committee is in post until 31st October.

President: James Potts

The President is here to lead the JCR committee, liaise with the Hall Warden and Management, the Students’ Union and other stakeholders and represents your hall at the monthly Students’ Union Council.

Vice-President: Ian Roper

Responsible for the JCR’s website, publicity and communications, co-ordinates the JCR committee elections and undertakes all Presidential duties in the absence of the President.

Treasurer: David Asafori

Prepares and manages the JCR budget, income and expenditure throughout the year and keeps the committee, residents, Students’ Union and University updated about the accounts.

Social Secretaries: Lauren Pearman and Tilly Stratton

Plan and run activities and events in your hall, organises publicity and ticket selling for events and liaise with Karni and Week One Reps.

Sports Coordinator: Stuart Marshall-Jarvis

Coordinates your Hall sporting events, liaises with team captains for the intra-mural sports league, organises equipment and kit for your hall sports teams and represents your hall sports through meetings with the Students’ Union.

Welfare Reps: Eileen Ozegbe and Simon Burfoot

Look after the welfare needs of the residents in your hall, represents your Hall’s welfare concerns to Hall Management and the Students’ Union runs welfare campaigns and is a member of the Students’ Union Welfare Rep Network.

Environmental Officer: Nikki Arora

Liaise with the Students’ Union Environmental and Social Justice Rep to raise awareness and campaign about environmental issues in your hall, represent your Hall’s environmental issues to Hall management and the Students’ Union.

International Rep: Aahama Bamerjee

Provides support for International Students living in Broadgate by organising events, liaising with the Students’ Union International Officer about activities and promoting these.

Albion Rep: Sholan Pillay and Cloister Rep: Chris Leslie

Both of these reps help to promote Broadgate Park activities to the students living in Albion and Cloister, ensure that transport arrangements are in place for these blocks for large Broadgate events and provide support to their residents.

International Postgraduate Rep: Sushil Jain

Provides support for the international students that are postgraduates in Broadgate by alerting them of events and activities occurring that are available for them. Also, they make sure the welfare of these postgraduate students is good.

News and Events

During the 2010/11 Academic year, Broadgate JCR ran many successful events including Games Nights, Theatre Trips, a break to Amsterdam, after formal socials, Summer Day of Fun and Spring and Summer Balls. The 2011/2012 academic year is already looking very packed with huge events such as ice-skating, the christmas party and pub quizzes and there are plenty more to come! Sports

Broadgate Park takes part in the Intra-Mural Sports (IMS) League, competing against other Halls and Societies. Teams include: Football and Hockey. Speak to Stuart, the JCR Sports Coordinator, when you arrive to find out more about getting involved in these teams or other sports which the IMS League offer.
