About Ancaster Hall
One of 12 catered halls on University Park, Ancaster is located near the West entrance. The hall is one of the larger on University Park and houses both single study and en suite bedrooms. The hall is comprised of blocks surrounding a large, grassy courtyard with excellent communal dining, bar and JCR facilities. Just 10 minutes walk from local shopping area Beeston, and 10 minutes walk from the centre of campus, Ancaster is superbly located!
Ancaster JCR Committee
The Current JCR Committee is in post until 31st October.
President: Mina Matthews
The President is here to lead the JCR committee, liaise with the Hall Warden and Management, the Students’ Union and other stakeholders and represents your hall at the monthly Students’ Union Council.
Vice-President: Natasha Putter
Responsible for the JCR’s website, publicity and communications, co-ordinates the JCR committee elections and undertakes all Presidential duties in the absence of the President.
Treasurer: Sean Kennedy
Prepares and manages the JCR budget, income and expenditure throughout the year and keeps the committee, residents, Students’ Union and University updated about the accounts.
Social Secretaries: Dalya Kurer and Arabella Marti
Plan and run activities and events in your hall, organises publicity and ticket selling for events and liaise with Karni and Week One Reps.
Sports Coordinator: Dave Edwards
Coordinates your Hall sporting events, liaises with team captains for the intra-mural sports league, organises equipment and kit for your hall sports teams and represents your hall sports through meetings with the Students’ Union.
Welfare Reps: Alice Kent and Pat McGrellis
Look after the welfare needs of the residents in your hall, represents your Hall’s welfare concerns to Hall Management and the Students’ Union runs welfare campaigns and is a member of the Students’ Union Welfare Rep Network.
Environmental Officer: Emma Taylor
Liaise with the Students’ Union Environmental and Social Justice Rep to raise awareness and campaign about environmental issues in your hall, represent your Hall’s environmental issues to Hall management and the Students’ Union.
News and Events
During the 2010/11 Academic year, Ancaster JCR ran many successful events including Quiz Nights, Cinema Trips, a break to Amsterdam, after formal socials and a Summer River Cruise. Sports
Ancaster Hall takes part in the Intra-Mural Sports (IMS) League, competing against other Halls and Societies. In 2010/11, Ancaster had a team in the IMS Football League. Speak to Dave, the JCR Sports Coordinator, when you arrive to find out more about getting involved in the Football team or other sports which the IMS League offer.
