Your Activities

The Students’ Union has 73 Athletic Union Clubs, 160 student led societies and a plethora of other volunteering opportunities that you can get involved with. Most of our activities are based at the University Park Campus in Nottingham. This means that for many students based at Education Centres away from Nottingham, geography is going to be a barrier to participation. Even Nottingham based healthcare students may find that regular weekly commitments to clubs and societies can become problematic, especially if you are regularly out on placements.
But fear not! The Students’ Union has a number of different initiatives up its sleeves where the main objective is to make accessing activities as easy as possible!
-
For healthcare students close to Nottingham, our Activate Lifestyle programme could well tickle your fancy! The concept of Active Lifestyle is getting involved without having to make a regular commitment. Activities available include things like Yoga, Sign Language, African Drumming, Day Trips and Horse Riding etc. Theses are all available on a one-off basis. You pay, you turn up, do your activity and that’s it! No club fee, no regular commitment no stress!
- If you want to volunteer a bit of your time and get involved in your local community, then Student Community Action (SCA) could well be for you! They also have a solution for students who are unable to make regular commitments. Their one-off Challenges only last for a day (or less) and allow you to take part in projects where you can really get stuck in for a worth while cause; often making a huge difference in the local community! The One-off Challenges all take place in Nottingham, although if you live else where then SCA can use their resources and links to try and find project for you in your local area.
The Full Range
Although most of our Athletic Union Sports Clubs and student led Societies are based at the University Park Campus in Nottingham; you may well find (with a bit of research) that some groups are easier to access than you would have thought.
If you’re willing to travel or you’re a healthcare student based at a Nottingham site, you may well find that the group you’re interested in meets up in the evenings or at weekends. They may not require a regular commitment either.
Nottingham based students will have also received the main (Orange) Students’ Union Guide along with this publication. The main Guide contains details of all the Nottingham based Sports Clubs, Societies, activities and opportunities available.
Students based away from Nottingham can access the same information via the main Students’ Union website. .
