Student Volunteer Centre
The Student Volunteer Centre is the Students' Union's volunteering department. We offer students the chance to develop valuable skills and experience whilst getting involved and helping the local community or your Students' Union. We work with more than 100 organisations, so whether your passion is art or sport, conservation or education - we have all sorts of opportunities to work with all kinds of people. And you won't be alone - this year over 3000 students have already signed up to volunteer!
As well as the various projects that we already work with and support, we're always open to new ideas as well. So, if you've got a burning desire to get something started then we can make it happen. We've helped volunteers set up everything from ethical Fashion Shows to conservation projects. We've even been instrumental in project work overseas, helping student projects in Tanzania, Cambodia and Uganda. And if that's not enough, a former student volunteer turned a student-led project into an award-winning charity. With the Student Volunteer Centre you never know where your volunteering will take you!
For those who don't have the time to volunteer on a regular basis, why not try a one-off Challenge? You'll be amazed at what you can achieve in a day. Last year our volunteers planted an orchard, painted playground murals and even spent a day building pig paddocks at a local farm!
It won't cost you a penny and the commitment to projects can be as little or as much as you like. If you want to get involved or just want to find out more, drop us a line at volunteering@nottingham.ac.uk. Or why not pop into the office, we're on the B floor of the Portland Building and are always happy to chat!
